Access Statement


The Old Courthouse is a Grade 1 listed building and as such there are constraints imposed by the existing structure. Every effort has been made to provide an inclusive environment on the ground floor for all guests and visiting performers.


The closest drop off point for step free access is Shirehall Street

Limited parking is available.

Step free access to the ground floor of the Old Courthouse is via ramps.


Ramp 1 –Enter between the pillar and the front wall of The Old Courthouse to the right hand side of the building (closest to Shirehall Street). Width of gap: 29” / 74cms.


Ramp 2 – Front door


From the Entrance Hall, there is step free access to the ground floor level of The Courthouse Theatre


Ramp 3 – a fixed ramp is located adjacent to the back wall of the Entrance Hall providing step free access to the disabled toilet and The Bench Bistro


At present there is no provision for disabled access to the basement Witness Room Bar.


Wheelchair access to stage for visiting performers.

There is a small backstage dressing room area accessed via ramps as detailed above and level stage access from the backstage corridor.

Door widths to stage are narrow (26”/ 66cms) A standard wheelchair will just pass through.
